What our participants are saying about VSA arts of New Jersey...

"I feel it is important to inspire other artists with disabilities and show what is possible with one’s talent. Being sensitive to the vibrations around us all, art is a means of expressing the poetry of my unique personal point of view.

I love taking exciting digital photographs and expressing my feelings using texture, color and natural beauty. I mix multiple influences into my work, and hope to create an unforgettable impression in the viewer’s mind.

VSA arts of New Jersey provides a great community where I can inspire other people and feel inspired by the work of others around me."

"My son has developed an acute sense of rhythm and a love of music. More importantly, my wife and I have noticed a definite improvement in his socialization skills as a result of this series. When he first enrolled in the program, he did not like to socialize with other children. Now he loves to interact with others and, in fact, looks forward to playing with others, both in and out of his music class. I feel these changes are an obvious result of the program’s curriculum. In many circumstances, these classes are more constructive than the therapies he receives at school. Certainly, together, they form an invaluable tandem for helping my son and children like him."Parent

"Painting takes you to another place. It gives you a sense of euphoria, and you can be anywhere you want to be. When I am painting I do not feel disabled. I know my limitations, but they are pushed away. The arts opened up a whole new world for me.

Not many people knew I painted for so long until I was asked to enter a VSA arts of New Jersey competition years ago. After winning the competition, and from the publicity I received, I have been able to do many things in my career. It is because of involvement with VSA arts of New Jersey that I was able to do all of this."
